Indian Green Building Council <\/span><\/a>(IGBC) aims to create 10 billion sq ft of green building space in the country by 2022. To this end, the country\u2019s infrastructure and real estate are adopting new technology and building materials. But while we are on the road to green development, many people have some misconceptions about such constructions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trimurty, being the <\/span><\/i>pioneer of Green Building construction in Jaipur<\/span><\/i><\/a>, would like to demystify some of the green building myths related to green buildings.<\/span><\/p>\n

Green Building Myth 1: Green Building is expensive<\/span><\/h2>\n

It is believed that constructing a green home is 15-20 percent more expensive than constructing a similar conventional home. This is a myth. Though applying new technologies can make the construction more expensive, the percentage rise remains under 10 percent.<\/span><\/p>\n

This cost can be recovered over time in terms of the energy savings the construction makes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Green Building Myth 2:\u00a0 You don\u2019t save as much as they say<\/span><\/h2>\n

Green homes reduce energy and labor costs. Reports suggest that a green building can help save 50 per cent of energy and around 30 per of water.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
